Ride of Silence

Held to honor the memory of bicyclists who have been killed or seriously injured by motor vehicles

Eugene will join communities around the world in holding a Ride of Silence on Wednesday, May 16th at 6:30 PM beginning in Alton Baker Park. The Ride of Silence will be held to honor the memory of bicyclists who have been killed or seriously injured by motor vehicles and also to promote the concept that all road users must share the road and take responsibility for safety. The Ride of Silence is a short, slow-paced ride that is open to cyclists of all ages and abilities. It is neither a race nor a party; its character will be more like a funeral procession as cyclists who have died are remembered. Cyclists are encouraged to wear armbands in memory of injured/killed cyclists while the group rides silently along the route. The route will travel from the duck pond at Alton Baker Park, through the park, over the Autzen foot bridge to Agate Street, 24th Avenue, Amazon Park path, High Street and back to Alton Baker Park. The ride is intended to be an easy, slow, law-abiding ride that is open to all members of the community.
